Why Horses?
Whether you have worked with horses your whole life or are unfamiliar with them, are inspired by them or are frankly scared them, this coaching experience can benefit you. Here is how coaching with horses works.
The horses you will work with, in our sessions, will meet you where you are, and help provide immediate non-judgmental feedback.
How do horses provide feedback?
Horses are prey animals. As prey animals, horses survival in the wild depended on their ability to “read” the behaviors and intentions of predators and react immediately to keep themselves safe. Domesticated horses have not lost this ability.
When you work on an issue through coaching, horses “read” what is going on with you and respond immediately. Just as the wild herd reflects the intentions of the mountain lion, domesticated horses reflect the truth of the emotional state of the humans around them – the imbalances and incongruities as well as the strengths and gifts. In our sessions, the horse will reflect back to you, but without an agenda. He will not judge you or try to change you. This direct feedback, in the form of a 1200 lb. horse, helps you tune into what is going on with you in this moment in time. This increases and quickens your ability to find your way to personal growth, empowerment, creativity, and a life of meaning.
The horse is always in the present moment. Their presence helps you quiet all of the noise in your head and truly be present, in the moment, to savor what life has to offer.
The horse will also help you access those feelings, sensations and emotions that will provide you with key information, if you allow them to be heard. When you can better access your heart, mind and intuition it help you make decisions, heal from pain and move through whatever situation, or transition, you are in.
Horses are social beings, creating close relationships with other herd members. Body language is the primary source of communication. With these skills they can mirror for you how you are coming across to others in your herd. This gives you insight into your leadership and how you may be relating to friends, family, colleagues, and people you manage so that you can make the changes you want.Research has shown that simply being around horses lowers blood pressure and heart rate, increased beta-endorphin levels, decreases stress levels, reduces feelings of anger, tension and anxiety. When you add that to their gift of immediate feedback you will find that you will get to the heart of what you want in your life and remove the barriers to getting there. They take us much more quickly down the path of changing old patterns that no longer work for you and new ways to live the life you want.
